The Pending Home Sales Index rose 4.3 percent to 82.3 in August, the second consecutive monthly increase, the National Association of Realtors said yesterday. The index is 20.1 percent below August 2009, when it was 103.0. NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said the latest index indicates a gradual improvement in home sales.
